If Leonardo DaVinci were born in 1980, He'd probably be an artist along the lines of photographer Noah Kalina.
To us, Noah is a true "photographer's photographer". He strikes us as the kind of artist that goes down rabbit holes of his own choosing... and along the way he documents the journey with his camera 📸.
Here are a few projects of his we've really been digging.
He recently published a beautiful book called Protect The Network. The premise is simple, and the results are lovely. Pictures of trees he comes across that have to be trimmed in a way to protect cables and electric wires 🌲✂️. (see more here)
He made a project called chicken.photos. He has 21 chickens, which take "selfies" using his setup. The images are then turned into NFTs. (more at chicken.photos)
He writes a newsletter where he shares all kinds of random thoughts and rabbit holes that he travels down. A recent post, for example, covered his process for cleaning his studio, including everything down to his favorite brand of paper towels.
We admire Noah's work and wanted to share it because it's truly inspiring to see someone creating from such a place of personal passion and interest. ✨
Whether you're a photographer creating purely for your own love of making images... or a photographer executing commercial work to align with a client's vision, there's something so inspiring about the purity of Noah's pursuit of his own interests in his photographic work.
If you want to dig deeper, we would highly recommend you start by taking a peek at Noah's email newsletter on Substack.
